Ad filmmaker Rakesh Omprakash Mehra who earlier made the film “Rang De Basanti” is ready for his next film “Dilli 6” that is said to have a story of his own experience ,when he was staying in old Delhi in his childhood. Like “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi&Rdquo;, it is said that the film maker is maintaining the secrecy about the real plot of the film but there has been many assumptions.
It was said from the start that Mehra keeps a hard bound copy of script all the time with him and he has no other copies of the script, to allow the story to be leaked to the audience. Initially it was assumed that the film will show something like the monkey man incident of Delhi and few more assumptions were made.
The story is about the American-born Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) who comes to India with his grandmother played by Waheeda Rahman. The man comes for his ailing grandmother but the trip gets long and one of the longest of his life. There are stories of many characters, who are living in the Chandni Chowk area of old Delhi and the mixed culture of the place is shown where people follow many religions. The city region has a pin code of 110006, and hence it is called Delhi-6.
The initial screening of the film will be held in Dubai International Film Festival film, that is attended by lead actors and director of the film that will be released in India in February 2009.
